At this point we just need to trust that the coaches will find a serviceable fix and Emma will carry it out on the field.

Dwelling on fairness isn’t going to solve anything in the short term. Neither will nitpicking every other pitcher in the NCAA and calling out every minuscule, perceived illegality.

Also, there is no conspiracy against Tech. The umpires aren’t out to get us. It just doesn’t sound practical.

The truth (as I see it) is that the calls are technically correct. That doesn’t mean I have to like it. I don’t think the way they are enforcing the rule in Emma’s case is consistent with the spirit of the regulation. Also, as pointed out by numerous people, there are other pitchers doing similar things, but they aren’t getting called on it. I think this is because it’s easier to see Emma’s supposed “transgression” than others.

Finally, none of this changes the fact that Emma is a SUPREMELY GIFTED PITCHER. She’s only a freshman but has made a name for herself across the country for all the right reasons. Despite all of the controversy she has continued to excel. Tech is incredibly lucky to have her!
