First- there is the rule, which she was in violation of but is rarely called so she either needs to figure out how to make an in-game adjustment or only pitch in games where we have a safe lead until she can work on it during the off season.
Second: there is the intent of the rule, which she did not violate because she was gaining no advantage on the batter by replanting
Third: there is the application of the rule, which is clearly not being applied equally or fairly. Clearly she was doing in on every pitch so if it's illegal it should be called on every pitch, not just on strikes. This is where the coaches have a justified appeal.
