Could be a workable solution......

if everybody agrees the rule is poorly written and has to change what is to stop guidance and clarification prior to implementation to prevent fiascos like Sunday? You can have that happen in a noon Sunday game in Tallahassee but, not in regionals, supers or WCWS.
