What's the best cert to get an entry level help desk job? My nephew would

like to get out of the service/catering industry and get into an IT office job. He's got a baby coming in a few months and is looking for something more steady. He did not finish college and doesn't have any work experience in the IT field. His knowledge of computers is pretty much that of a standard computer user. I told him the best way to learn would be to get an entry level help desk gig to get real world experience and move up from there. W/o a degree or any background knowledge I assume he'd need a cert to even get a look from a company. I told him I would pay half the cost of his certification course (I'll pay full if he takes and passes the exam w/in 60 days) but I'm not sure which cert to point him to.

Looking at the CompTIA options it looks like Net+ and Sec+ build off A+ and, while he may be able to take and pass those, I don't really want to throw him right into those w/o him having any prior knowledge base/experience. Would A+ be the way to go?
