We are moving to the Myrtle Beach area - and big shout out to the Lounge


On March 20 I wrote we were thinking of moving to Myrtle. I got a lot of good responses. Places to avoid and places to look at. I reported all of it to my wife who actually took the information seriously.

So we had an open weekend and drove down and looked with a realtor we found down there. Long story short, we have a contract on a house in Murrells Inlet. Tuckahokie suggested that area and Litchfield. Oh, my wife thought Litchfield was "it", but there just aren't many houses there. And due to suggestions on here, we used the crime map to help us pick places to look and avoid.

Then to top it off, we were keeping my wife's parents abreast on what we were doing. They decided to move down there too and have an offer on a house about 10 minutes from where we are buying. And now my wife's best friend plans to move down there in July. The realtor should be giving us some kickback.

So far my biggest surprise: home insurance is $2000 more a year down there for a house that is worth about the same as my house in NOVA. I guess Hurricanes will do that.
