What I’ve read for the last few weeks, I hesitate to say in a profiling manner, leads me to form the following opinion: Rock Hill, SC and SC in general may have gotten in over their heads in agreeing to a deal they weren’t capable of fulfilling.

Although Panthers’ founder Jerry Richardson wasn’t a South Carolinian, he’s a legend at Wofford and loved by all. I think there’s a bias against Tepper in SC, maybe only in the State and local governments.

Tepper went nearly a year expecting Rock Hill, York County and SC to make in-kind payments they all agreed to but they never did. They chose instead to try to renegotiate the original deal unilaterally. Tepper backed off, not backed out.

There are some here on TSL who hate Tepper and think he’s a scheming crook but IMO he’s a businessman who considers a deal a deal.
