Sorry for your loss man. My wife has three chihuahua wiener mixes currently

One lost the use of her back legs one day a few years ago out of the blue. A chore to take care of but she wakes me up every day about 5:30. One of the other one had kidney stones last year and is on special food. The oldest one is showing her age but still kicking it
