Unlike the "regular" Vegas.

A great read is "On a Clear Day You Can See General Motors." I think it focused on John Delorian, but I do remember a chapter on the Vega. I think it started out as a pretty solid design, but the executives at GM cut, and cut, and cut more funding to the point the engine was a piece of crap. I don't think that was the original engine planned for the car...

I remember reading a R&T or C&D article about a compact car shoot out where the Vega came in dead last in acceleration, but finished 3rd in the slalom. It had the best handling in the class. Such a great opportunity to make a really great automobile was completely screwed by GM's executives...
