I want to point out that I only have the story because of observations I made and then asking some follow-up questions. I actually had to pry the details out of Coach D’Amour, but it was worth it.

Last Saturday in Blacksburg, there was a little boy named Arthur sitting in a wheelchair in front of the stands watching the VT-UNC game.

Pete noticed Arthur sitting there and got Keely to autograph a softball and between innings, he ran out and handed it to him. When the game was over, the Hokies invited down to the field where he posed for a picture with the team.

When we were talking about it, Pete commented that “that special little boy brought a lot of joy to our program this weekend and we hope we can continue the relationship with him and his family.”

I think it is really cool that the entire thing was totally unplanned and instantaneous, which is what makes it special in my book.
