They were even bad in the day to day stuff.


For example, I worked a J6 job where we were looking at our cost of comms to the MILGRPs at the embassy's in our AOR. After reviewing what we paid, we determined we could set up our own satellite comm service for far less than what we were paying DOS for communications through their services. We were pretty sure they were charging DOD for 100% of ours, and their communications.

In the end we set up our own system at probably half of what we were paying DOS, and getting more bandwidth in the process. Some of the DOS missions decided to piggyback on our system. Unlike DOS, we charged them for the same for bandwidth that we were paying for our MILGRPs.

DOS is just so slimy and untrustworthy.
