I felt at the time that the bench was to key to a turnaround

We simply couldn't win without it. The starters were getting worn out by the end of the games. The key was getting Maddux, N'Guessan, and Pedulla going with more PT, coaching them through their mistakes, and letting them get more comfortable with their shooting. Yes, I was frustrated with MY at the time but he finally made the commitment to play those guys and it's paying off! I still would like to see Ojiako get more PT against big line-ups but at least we're winning.
