He's not representing Russia in the NHL

Meaning he's not playing for Russia where the competitions you are referring to (I believe) are Russians rep'ing Russia in competition. He's also not the only Russian in the NHL, as there are about 50 current players, so why single him out? Because he's supported Putin?

Should we start singling every athlete out who supports a bad apple politician? That would be a LONG game.
