They do the same thing at Philpott dam near Bassett.
Back in the late '70's/early 80's, I used to lifeguard at Fairystone state park and we saw them fly over occasionally. One day, a navigator in an F14 was visiting at the park and one of my friends knew him. He was stationed at Oceana and we told him next time they fly over the lake, tip the wings or something so we will know it was him. About a month later on a slow, hot, lazy August afternoon, we were on the stand struggling to stay awake when his jet dropped down to about 50-75 feet above the lake. The pilot tipped about 90 degrees right so we were staring straight at the cockpit and then flipped left 180 before straightening out and heading up. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen (except for getting stuck on a catamaran off VA beach during a blue angels practice session - but that's another story).
