Schools can't just set up "funds" for NIL

you need someone unaffiliated with the university willing to enter into a contract with an athlete

Now it can be very much not in the spirit of NIL where a donor basically just pays a kid for playing for the school he loves...and it can't be used as a recruiting enticement, but, yes, it probably "wink, wink, nudge, nudge," will be (or already is)...people are always going to push the envelope. But it's not as simple as "we want to be good at wrestling, so let's set up an NIL fund to pay some top recruits."
