I've always been fascinated by people's obsession with gas prices.

Unless I was a long haul trucker, it really is such a small item in my overall budget. And most folks. I realize it does have a residual affect on the price of other consumer goods. But again, you don't see people raise hell when the other factors in the COGS rise.
Just interesting consumer psychology.

My old man would drive across town to find gas that was 5 cents cheaper/gallon. He probably still does.
