Oil import stats I saw posted today. Canada 51.3%, Mexico 8.4%, Russia 7.9%
Saudi Arabia 5.4%. It’s not really about the percentage though. It’s about the money the USA is putting into Putin’s war coffer.
Last year 2021 we imported 245,194,000 barrels from Russia of crude oil & petroleum which was an increase of 24%.
We also imported an additional 72,603,000 barrels of crude oil which was an increase of 163%.
I’m not sure what the price difference between the 2 products are but:
245,194,000 X $100/barrel = $24,519,400,000 plus 72,603,000 X $100/barrel = $7,260,300 that equals over 317 BILLION that the USA paid Russia just last year at $100/barrel & today crude oil reached $112/barrel. That’s just counting the USA’s 7.9% import value.
The NATO countries are importing 4,808,000 barrels of crude oil /day & 41% of their natural gas from Russia.
I realize the pipeline won’t be up & running tomorrow. The point is we shouldn’t never shut it down or discouraged oil production in this country & the faster we change that the better off we will be & hopefully, by announcing that the USA will go back to being energy independent & even pursue selling our excess to NATO countries ASAP it will cause Russia to rethink their next move.
We agree that it’s better to face this aggression today with our full might than to allow Russia to become more powerful & embolden China.
