Here's my 'nerd' thoughts on how/why we can stop Putin

1. Oligarchs in Russia do NOT want a nuclear scenario. Bad for business, and can't live their nice lifestyle. While sanctions mostly ineffective in previous conflicts, this range of restrictions is more wide reaching and more devestating.
2. Oligarchs understand one thing - if the world burns, they do too, as do their lifestyles. The are NOT idealistic - the care about money. When the world is dead, who is going to supply your lifestyle?
3. If NATO/US just moves in quick and shuts this shit down, yes we run the risk of Putin 'pushing a button'. BUT the 'button' isn't the actual button and I STRONGLY think the Oligarchs and Generals who actually control the button understand points 1 & 2.
4. It's VERY similar to the Bay of Pigs, except on their own turf. Not the same, but similar.

And yes, at some point, you gotta stand up to bullieseverytime the US has sat around and didn't intervene early, we have had way higher prices to pay.
