Iowa is 18 in the NET.

The NET means something for sure and Iowa is 18 and we are 40, thus the difference and why they are a 7 seed. We could be closer to the bubble, but we just don't know. I think it is a bit crazy we don't know the formula. Does the NET really consider a home win vs. a team ramked #30 the same as an away win vs. a team ranked 75? If not, the Q system for evaluation is flawed.
