Williams had a great curve


I quit playing Little League at 10 or 11 so I never truly saw a great curveball close up.

One time I went to Fairfax for a VT @ GMU game. There were bleachers and just beyond the bleachers on the 1st base side was the visiting (VT) bullpen, in a chain link fence. I was sitting in about the 5th or 6th row at the very end of the bleachers, I could reach out and touch the chain link fence to my right. Just below me through the fence was the catcher. So when Williams was warming up I was basically getting the view as if I was a 7 or 8 foot tall home plate umpire, right behind the catcher, watching the ball come in. Man that curveball was impressive to me, never seen a good one that close before.
