Don't quite get the NBC subject line.
In my view, they continue to be one of the smarter networks concerning sports rights. Through the years, they carefully selected properties that were aligned with their brand, strategy and mostly their budget - the NHL, the Olympics, Premier League, PGA, Sunday Night NFL, NASCAR, Notre Dame football and cycling. They didn't try to compete head-to-head with ESPN. They knew this collection of "B" properties would draw fewer viewers, but smartly, they paid accordingly. They didn't break the bank and bend over like ESPN did for say, Monday Night Football. Then recently, they saw the writing on the wall in regard to streaming, and actually took the bold and smart move to shut down NBCSN and move more to Peacock. ESPN shutting down ESPN Classic is only window dressing and pales in comparison to NBC's digital strategy. Fortunately, NBC was also able to strong-arm Comcast to have an entertainment channel, USA Network, agree to expand their sports programming while this shift to streaming picks up steam. Now, they want to go bigger into college football. If they go over $1B per year to the Big10, I'd be surprised for sure, but could only assume they've fully vetted it based on their past record.
