I had an insurance company (that I didn't have coverage through anymore)...


...decide to "audit" past claims (something like 3-4 years back) thus resulting in numerous changes when they resubmitted. Problem when it hit provider's system because it was that far back, their system automatically sent it to collections based on one claim. Told the collection agency that called me to F off that I didn't owe anything. I then spent about 9 months trying to sort it out with both the insurer and provider. Once we figured everything out it turned out the provider owed me a couple hundred dollars. I told them they could cut me a check right that moment or I could send to collections.
