ND wants to stay indy, no desire to lead or "mold" a conference

It is kind of a "Get off my lawn" attitude.

ND wants the status quo and for everyone else to leave its independence alone.

Even way back in the 2003 Big East raid, people were speculating that ND would create its own conference out of selected Big East schools and others.

ND did no such thing.

ND could have lead the Big East, but declined.

ND could lead (or largely influence) the ACC, but won't.

It has never shown any inclination to be the "Big Dog" of any conference as a full member.

So, ND won't be forming any conference that it likes.

Your post sounds great, but ND isn't going to give up football independence to do something like this, not in any foreseeable future.

Plus, GOR's, exit fees and TV payouts make such a task very daunting today, even if ND was interested at all (it isn't).
