Conferences are Alliance’s & NOT Conferences, we don’t even play ea. other

very often in many cases. We are using out of date terms, because that’s what we have always called them. However, playing 1/2 the teams once every 7 years, should not be defined as the same Conference, it’s an Alliance.

If you think of it as an Alliance, which is closer to reality, and not a Conference, then the Notre Dame and ACC can work. Let’s assume Conferences/Alliances can make their own rules to crown their champion. (This will likely happen with the reconfiguration) Let’s assume the P5 will insist their Champions will get an automatic bid (they will get this too, because they will split off from the G5 if they don’t get it)

So all the ACC has to do is go with no Divisions, but you must play 7 in your Alliance and at least 9 total P5 games and the highest ranked team gets the automatic bid (Orange Bowl for the ACC). The ACC adds Navy to get to 16 in the Alliance. Notre Dame with Navy has 6 ACC games without changing a thing from what they are doing right now scheduling wise. Then say to Notre Dame, if you add 1 more current ACC game, 5 to 6 plus Navy makes it 7. Do that, and you can win the Automatic Bid as an Alliance member (which you already are by the way). You can still keep NBC for home games and you are as Independent in football basically, as you are now, with the exception of 1 more game with the current ACC schools.

You also increase your chances at getting a playoff bid, because you can get the Alliance bid and can get at large bid too, by basically just adding 1 more ACC game than right now.
