Ditto for my wife and I

30 year Hokie Club members and football (30 years) and basketball (5ish years) season ticket holders. I wrote Coach Robie and explained my position. I will miss the wrestling more than any other sport. In fact, I'm going to NC State and ACC's, contemplating NCAA's. I'm amused by some of the posts - this is completely me and my wife's decision and I'm not slamming those of you willing to show proof of vax or get a test to go to athletic events. Those are your decisions.
I'm going to Italy for work next week and am having a hard time scheduling a test so I can go (I'm vax'd, not that it's doing much good). Why take up COVID tests for sporting events? If you really care, you will conserve them for those who are really scared and need to get one. I've been to every basketball game since the season started and every wrestling event. There have been zero (0) outbreaks traced to these events. Heck, there have been zero (0) outbreaks traced back to any athletic event (indoor or outdoor) anywhere in the United States. VT is the only University in VA doing this.
I would be a little less irritated if the powers that be had instituted this at the beginning of the season. But to do it mid-season and say screw you when you ask for your money back for the pro-rated portion of your tickets is pretty dirty.
I'd be happy to sell the rest of my basketball season tickets (2) and my Moss tickets (2) for tomorrow's match to anyone on this board who thinks I'm over-reacting by being logical about opposing this new mandate. My engineering degree taught me to look at the facts and make an informed decision. That is exactly what I'm doing. An entity that arbitrarily changes the rules mid-stream is not someone I want to partner with.
I will support the heck out of the wrestling team, just not on the VT campus. See you in Raleigh next weekend. Can't wait.
SERTC will certainly benefit from the $$ I'll be saving in Hokie Club dues and season tickets.
