Considering two topics of NCAA future relevance and CFP expansion
it occurs to me that one bold move the NCAA could make is to announce an alternative FBS playoff format, run by them.
FBS would then have a championship actually recognized by the governing body of the sport and we'd no longer have a "mythical" national champion.
assuming they could get buy-in from all the FBS conferences save the SEC (and possibly the B1G), I think the SEC would have to go along shortly.
this move would almost certainly make the current CFP, LLC irrelevant, restore a ton of relevance to the NCAA and effectively end all discussion of the P5 schools breaking away.
to be clear, I'm opposed to the notion of an "FBS champion" and would prefer all forms of playoffs and national polls disappear.
anyone know what contractual hooks the CFP, LLC has with the D1 conferences and have an opinion on whether they'd hold up to a legal challenge?
