Hasn't the CDC been consistent that a "cute homemade/store bought mask" is less effective than an N95? That wasn't in question; it was always a matter of availability and attempting to determine what was good enough. Now there's a strain that is more transmissible and the availability of masks is different; isn't it sensible, rather than as many hint embarrassing or evidence of clueless-ness for them to be reconsidering the old policy?
