He’s going to be a great player.
But he (like the rest of the bench) doesn’t scare anyone offensively yet and he’s not there yet on defense. He continues to get caught ball watching or over committing to the center of the lane on defense and leaving the wing wide open. That killed us last night in their second half run. Storm moves the ball much better and you can see that in our offense. He was in the game during our run at the end of the first half and the second half run. He was not in the game during much of NC states second half run when they rained threes from the wing near pedulla.
Sean’s going to be a heck of a guard for us. But Murphy has 100+ games of experience on him and that shows in the stats while he’s in the game.
Right now our biggest weakness is our bench which is producing almost nothing on offense and is a major step back on the defensive side. This results in too much reliance on our starters who are getting worn down at the end of games.
Our other problem is Alleyne. He’s a quirky shooter and sometimes guys with unconvential shooting styles struggle to get back on track. I think it results from no one being able to help them due to their unique style and they begin to doubt the style itself. I’m sure for years folks have been trying to convince him to adapt a more conventional stroke and when you are in a slump those conversations get in your head and you doubt it. Not sure what the solution is to get him back on track but other teams don’t seem super worried about him as a shooter right now.
