Some fans are insane. Most are a bit unrealistic

Many just want the 8-4/10-2 type seasons. I think that is very doable for a coach making millions.
Those who have a life outside of watching CFB and don't put all their hope into this game can be more objective and realistic. To be honest virtually all sports have become big business and I can no longer romaticize it. I would laugh if covid took out the playoffs and created a political crapshow. I have my own hobbies and while I like UFC, I love watching something as pure as a cross country race.
