Does/has anyone own/owned a German shorthaired pointer before?

We currently have a mini Aussie and would like to get another dog that he could play with but would also be more social/good with family. I know they are high energy dogs but we should be able to walk/play with them enough plus we go hiking pretty regularly. Anyone have any experience with them? Any pros and cons?
