He has been a great hokie. He came in thinking he'd be a big part of Fu's offense and had praise heaped on him early during fall camp about how versatile he was a do everything Swiss army knife type of back who could break a big play at any time. He was a little dinged to start the season and then Herbert happened. Instead of going into a funk because he wasn't the feature back, jumping back into the portal like some prima donnas would, he did whatever was asked and stayed after it.

This year he really showed what he could do and why everyone raved about him last year's preseason. We talk about what might have been if the Governor had stayed healthy but I shudder to think what would have happened if Blackshear had gone down too. He's gotten his degree, he's been in school for 5 years and decided to see if he can find a spot in the big show. He's not sitting out the bowl like most agents are advising their clients and is going to play behind whatever line JC and the coaches can pull together. He might not have started out as a hokie but he sure as hell is finishing up in the best traditions of one!
