The way I look at fitness and weight loss are...


Exercise controls your level of fitness, and diet controls your weight. You can work out like crazy and lose weight, but once that exercise ends, the weight returns. Or you can change your diet to where you lose weight, the add a little more back in when you reach your weight goal.

Recommend not starving yourself because you can't sustain it in the long term. Just start cutting back on carbs and calories a little at a time to see what you can do without, then keep removing items until you start losing weight.
