When your hat is in the ring with USC, ND, OU, UF, LSU and maybe others

that may be the best strategy. I don't think hiring your 5th or 6th choice is the smart thing to do. There may be other big programs looking after more dominoes fall and VT will just keep getting pushed aside. VT can't compete with the blue bloods for coaches.
