he got extra money for doing so. If Babcock were going to target Price, he would have told him to pound sand and coach the last two games because he could have essentially hired Price AND saved a couple million. If Fuente were to exit unilaterally, Tech would not owe him anything - in fact, there was a buyout clause that would require payment the other way (although that may have only been if he went to another job - not sure how much of the timing would matter there).

I like JC Price - I hope he performs well and would be happy if he were retained by the new coach, but I don't think he is under consideration for the top job. The bottom line is that if Babcock paid extra to get rid of Fuente now AND hires Price, he should be run off for gross mismanagement of VTAF resources.
