Conference Champs with more objective criteria is as good as we can get right now from the Conferences and ND.

Go to 8 with the 6 highest ranked Conferences getting a bid. The SEC would have a chance at 3 and ND just needs to be in the top 8. That's better than the 4 we have right now, because SEC will at best get 2 and ND needs to be in the top 4 if it stays the same.

However, in 2025 they could expand again and with a majority vote do the automatic bid for Conference Champions, with again a couple of at large bids. If they do, the ratings for the Conference Championship games, will soar! I think people at ESPN are finally not following the John Skipper master plan of two Conferences and realize it is no longer realistic and was going to severely regionalize instead on nationalize the sport.

PS What the committee did yesterday with Michigan State and Michigan shows they have the Professional Wrestling Blue Blood Brand Bias. It needs to STOP NOW!
