If you take a look at what NIL opportunities have been given...

The biggest deals are from national brands.

The Alabama QB got the bulk of his money from Cash App. He is represented by the same talent agency as Kirk Herbstreit.

Quinn Ewers signed with a talent agency out of Dallas.

So can Alabama and Ohio State point to those deals and say "look what our players have signed"? For sure they can, but the counter argument to that is that those kids were 5-star talents at a highly visible position and they were going to get those deals no matter where they went.

Another one of the biggest deals was to McKenzie Milton and D'Eriq King. McKenzie Milton has 2 TD and 4 INT. King has 3 TD and 4 INT. If they both had eligibility left, do they get the same deal next season? What does the backup QB at Alabama get?

It seems to me the best way to get NIL deals is to either be a 5-star talent and youll get it wherever you go or to go somewhere you can be visible (like Houston for King and UCF for Milton) and earn the deals through your play.

Milton and King's stock was wayyyyyy higher when they were bigger fish in smaller ponds. I am betting those NIL deals (again, from national brands) would still have been there had they stayed at their previous school. Though I understand why Milton had to leave UCF, because he wasnt going to be the starter (again, another point that you have to go where you will play)
