The content that @saret posted basically amounts to "if you normally park on campus, you need to be cleared out before the game because we're doing event parking there".

The page I linked explicitly talks about public parking is in Lot 2 and portions of the cage (Lot 16, I think). A page on hokiesports.com says Lot 2 and Lot 5. I parked in both lot 2 and lot 5 in the games I attended in 2019-2020. I don't recall any fees for public parking for MBB/WBB games.

It may be worth checking with the parking services office (number on that page) to verify that they won't be ticketing people parking the designated public lots during games. They've apparently been quite aggressive for general on-campus parking of late.
