....I believe bringing in a guy like Mike Goforth had as much to do with Beamer's rise in success as anything. At the time, Goforth was a personal trainer on the cutting edge of his time. VT invested heavily into being able to train up everyone on the team to peak levels of athletic performance, and it showed on the field.

I've seen the new weight rooms we've built, I know we've got nutritionists, we've still got the best support in place, but I wonder, based on all the injuries, how much motivation and buy-in does the current training staff get from the players? Goforth in his prime seemed to be a master at not only knowing his craft, but also getting the players to work harder in the training room. I've wondered if we're getting the same player buy-in and training dedication it seemed was happening in days now gone.
