It starts and ends with Pitt: 1993 and 2021


After all those coaching changes, VT beat Pitt at their place 63-21 in 1993. The win wasn't the end-all-be-all, but it was the first real sign of a true turnaround. VT lost to #3 Miami the next week, but went on to a 8-3 record and a bowl win that season. This year, VT loses to Pitt at home and has a losing record. The game in 2021 wasn't the end-all-be-all, but to me, it really showed VT going in the wrong direction as a program.
