His Mission Impossible movies are killing it in the box office.

His career isn't south, it's very much north. His last Mission Impossible movie (Fallout) grossed an incredible $791,657,398 (source IMDB) and in my humble opinion is the best of the MI movies and one of the best action adventure movies ever made. His Top Gun movie sequel/remake comes out later this year and will be a blockbuster and a must see on the theater big screen. A career gone south? I don't think so. As Cruise said in his final line in Fallout, "Don't make me laugh".
