True. But in this case the book is really, really funny


And even though they mined a lot of the material for both the movie and the TV series, they didn't get all of it.

Of course they probably couldn't since a lot of the bits are really irreverent to the point of being fully blasphemous. (Including Trapper posing as Christ and selling autographed photos to raise money.)
