We passed Challenge #1: win a big ACC season opener


Personally, I kinda figured we would. Tech is pretty darn good in season openers under Fuente. When you give him all spring + summer to get ready for a team, he'll have us ready. That said....

The problem with Fuente has been what comes after the season opener. Once teams have some film on us, it seems we struggle to adjust week-to-week as the season progresses. And it gets worse once guys start getting hurt. Our starters have been solid, but recruiting has hurt our bench depth. Which brings us to Challenge #2: Avoid the Letdown.

Fuente & the staff's major task this week will be to keep the players grounded, avoid reading all the overblown media hype about the big win vs UNC, and approach this game vs MTSU in a businesslike fashion. We've been caught napping multiple times in the past in this very situation and it's high time we put a stop to that. It starts Saturday in Lane Stadium.... let's get it done. Go Hokies!!!
