I am a smaller donor but a longtime donor nevertheless and was also able to preserve my seating area. Made friends with the students as at least one of them said he had student season tickets and tried to get into the student section, but 45 minutes before game time it was full. He showed me his printed ticket that said to go to sections 1,3,21,23 for general admission seating if the student section was full. The problem is it didn’t seem to clearly specify which rows were general admission so of course the students went as close to the field as they could. The sheriff and season ticket holders chased off some students but not all. I think some season ticket holders either didn’t come or had extra seats. Empty seats were a magnet for students. One student would come down the row followed by a dozen more. The standing room only enabled more students to crowd the section to include two UNC students. But we had fun poking at them even if they did get into the game using a borrowed VT student ID (which wasn’t needed). Check Andy Bitter’s press box photo and you can see clearly that the sections closest to the student section were jammed before game time and not so much the further you went south in the east stands.
