Been going to games at Tech since 1976. Never saw a crowd so huge. I am a 30 platinum hokie with great seats i Section 7 near the lower ramp. You couldn't get in the ramp way as it was both a cluster of people coming in and exiting just prior to kick-off.
When we finally got in our seats were gobbled (no pun intended) by a massive amount of students . These are seats that require a $800 donation per seat. It took me maybe 10 minutes to aggressively chase the ones out of my 6 seats. In looking around i could tell that other folks who have season tickets were not there... i think most left because they could not get to their seats. There were people all in the aisle filled in like a can of sardines.
At the end of the half i spoke to two sheriff's about the situation. They informed me thst the northeast gate ( students gate) was overrun and that as many as 15000 stormed through the gates without tickets. They were not prepared for this crowd and decided just to let things be.
I estimate that perhaps 80,000 were within Lane Stadium yesterday. It was crazy.
