But the toothpaste is out of the tube. The best we can do is make your "conferences" into divisions and pair them up into conferences.
Mid-Atlantic + Northeastern = ACC
South Atlantic + Southeastern = SEC
Great Lakes + Great Plains = B1G
Pac 9 + Southwestern = Pac18

Scrap the interdivision in-conference games and play round robin in your division and then 1 ooc game against a like ranked team in each other conference . Pac 1 vs ACC 1, B1G 1, SEC 1, Pac 2 vs. ACC 2, etc. Still have conference championships. This leaves 1 available game to schedule against a non-division rival (in conference or ooc) or someone else .
