in home and away games. It is an issue because major of the power conference schools have a "scheduling rule" where they can't play more than 5 away games in a season for "financial reasons." So the years a team has to play 5 away conference games, they may be limited on who they can schedule to fill the 3 OOC slots. Whereas a balanced home-away conference schedule allows a team more flexibility with its scheduling. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with a team playing 6 home games and 6 away games every year. I am just not sure most power conference ADs see it that way.
