ACC should use alliance news to form a pact with the SEC

If I was the ACC Commissioner, I would be playing both sides of the fence right now. Maybe the news of the B1G-PAC-ACC alliance will spur the SEC to seek a partner. In my opinion, the ACC would be better served to partner with the SEC instead of B1G/PAC.

For one, both the SEC and ACC media rights will be fully held by ESPN. ESPN would appear to have some desire to keep the tv inventory of both conferences fully in house. This may help the ACC’s ESPN dea if we don’t partner elsewhere.

Secondly, the existing out of conference rivalries are with SEC teams. A scheduling alliance with the B1G/PAC will put strain on Clemson, FSU, GT, Louis to keep existing SEC rivals and add new P5 games.

Finally, I believe in the proposed conference alliance, the ACC could potentially be the 3rd wheel. The B1G and PAC have been partners for decades and if an issue arose I would imagine they would support each other over the ACC.

The SEC is cutthroat but I think I would rather be with them than against them. The SEC always seems to be a step ahead of the political/NCAA game.
