I don't know if those who leaked it intended for it to go down this way, but it is clear to me that the SEC-UT-OU should have wanted this CFP-12 plan to go through first before announcing the expansion news.

Instead, what we have now is a lot of outrage and defensiveness about the CFP-12 playoff to the point that it clearly won't go through in it's current format. I might be in the minority here, but I don't see either the current 4-team playoff or the 12-team proposal as massively different for the SEC. But the perception of the other conferences seems to be that the 12-team proposal must be used to stop the SEC. And the perception is more important than the reality. So I think this whole 12-team thing is going to get blown out of the water.
