President Sands commented on AAU membership last night...


I thought I would post this here since I've seen several discussions about AAU membership. On a Zoom call with President Sands last night someone asked specifically about AAU membership. To try and summarize...he said our plan for expansion and growth is based on the AAU framework. While we don't want to change our unique culture and mission to fit someone else's agenda, AAU membership is definitely something VT is interested in and they are working to raise our profile to pursue that goal. We are very competitive already compared to current AAU schools and how they are evaluated. He doesn't believe an invite will happen in the next couple years, but if we continue on our current path he does believe it could happen within the next decade. Just in time for those GORs to expire, LOL! Just passing on what I heard...
