If UT and OU came it would cause ESPN to renegotiate and the ACC would have

a position of strength with these two powers included for that renegotiation. We no longer have Swofford doing the negotiating so we might actually get a competitive deal that would be attractive to OU and UT. Whatever deal we got would certainly be much better than B12 deal and potentially much closer to SEC and B10 deals, though probably still behind both, but possibly not long term. An ACC network with these two schools would be a much more attractive offer, and comcast would probably come aboard. Don't forget we still have the deal with ND, and that may be attractive to OU and UT. OU and UT would have a far easier path to a conference championship than in the SEC. They would not be joining the best football conference, but would be clearly joining the 2nd best, and if a few schools get their act together, the ACC could even challenge the SEC at that point. So in the end OU and UT would be joining a conference that could potentially rival the SEC. Joining the SEC would be joining a killer conference that would be far superior than any other, but would bring a nightmare schedule and fewer wins and conference championships than would be available in the ACC. Also, if the ACC with the addition of OU and UT could rival the SEC in football, then the ACC would also be superior to the SEC in most other sports. I don't think there is any chance they join the ACC. But that is the argument I would make.
