Always wondered why "high end" bicycles were so expensive


You can buy a Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki/Suzuki 250 motocross bike for what the high end mountain bikes run...and a crappy motorcycle rider can lap a course much faster than any olympic champion can do on the most expensive mountain bike ever made.

I get that you pay for "lightness," but I think these are generally waaaaaay overpriced...but I understand running a local bicycle shop is not cheap.
